We’re partnering with Wind Drift Studios to carve out a space for the mountain community to connect, create, and inspire. Whether you're out this way for a snow-covered ski run or sun-soaked alpine hike, join us for film nights, art exhibitions, music events, and community workshops that celebrate the magic of Mammoth Lakes and the Eastern Sierra.

Wind Drift Studio x Arc'teryx

A community-driven space for creativity, connection, and culture.

Wind Drift Studios was born from a dream to provide a physical space for people to gather and grow as individuals and a collective. Conceptualized by long-time Mammoth Lakes locals Chris Benchetler and wife Kimmy Fasani, the 3,000sqft. space was opened to the public in 2026 after reimagining an old commercial building into a state-of-the-art facility.

Located at 94 Old Mammoth Road in Mammoth Lakes, CA, the building features event, gallery, and retail space (and can additionally be reconfigured into a photography studio). A diverse set of curated events brings a collision of culture, art, and sport aimed to further community, creativity, curiosity, conversation, and compassion.

Wind Drift Studios was collaboratively envisioned, and today operates in partnership with Arc'Teryx, who is deeply committed to supporting communities throughout the Eastern Sierra such that they may be more closely connected and supported.

About the space

Wind Drift Studios was born from a dream to provide a physical space for people to gather and grow as individuals and a collective.

Conceptualized by long-time Mammoth Lakes locals Chris Benchetler and wife Kimmy Fasani, the 3,000sqft. space was opened to the public in 2026. The space was thoughtfully reimagined from an old commercial building into a dynamic, state-of-the-art venue featuring an event space, gallery, and retail area, with the flexibility to transform into a photography studio.

Wind Drift Studios was collaboratively envisioned, and today operates in partnership with Arc'teryx, who is deeply committed to supporting communities throughout the Eastern Sierra such that they may be more closely connected and supported.

From Creative Need to Community Vision

A few years back, Chris Benchetler needed a space to paint and film for some of the work he was doing on Mountains of the Moon. After exploring a number of different spaces in town, an old dilapidated building on Main Street caught his attention.

As the project progressed, Chris and his wife Kimmy decided to transform the space into something that could benefit the community. What was born is Wind Drift Studios (WDS).

Ways to Participate and Experience the Space

The space is open with regular business hours, offering patrons the opportunity to explore the gallery and purchase a variety of merchandise.

A variety of free events are held at the building each month.

Grief Hall

DATE

Tuesday, July 7

TIME

5:30 - 7:30PM

In our mountain community, loss is woven into the fabric of life, from death and tragedy to breakups, identity shifts, job changes, and the many quiet griefs we often carry alone.

Grief Hall is a donation-based community space to gather, share stories, listen deeply, and be witnessed in what is real. Together, through honest conversation and collective presence, we create room for healing, connection, and remembrance because none of us are meant to carry grief alone.

This gathering is facilitated by Hari Khalsa RN, End-of-life doula. A suggested donation of $10-$30 supports SIGHT’s 2026 community programs as a non-profit.

FAQs

We have the answers for all your questions.

If you can't find what you're looking for below, email us at office@winddriftstudios.com or call 760-914-4274.

I’ve never climbed before—do you have an orientation so I can learn the basics?

At your first check-in, you will receive an orientation from a staff member that includes an overview of how to understand the walls and how to fall. Your new membership or day pass also includes a free 30 minute Intro to BP session (which are run every day), where you can learn some of the fundamentals of climbing and navigating a climbing gym. We also offer Beginning Bouldering Technique classes!

What exactly is bouldering?

Bouldering is rock climbing without a rope or harness, usually without going too high off the ground. Bouldering Project boulders are between 13-17 feet high and the entire ground around the climbing walls is padded.

Do I need a membership to participate in events or climb at the Bouldering Project?

You need either a membership or a day pass to climb or participate in events at Bouldering Project. We offer monthly memberships, prepaid memberships, day passes, or 10 punch passes. Most events are accessible with a pass, but some are members-only.

Do you offer discounted passes?

During the Arc’teryx Gym Residency, there will be access to reduced pricing for a 3-month pass (see below). The Bouldering Project also offers an Access Membership program, which is a self-select in, and self-select off program, offered at two reduced prices—a 25% reduction or a 40% reduction from our base price for monthly recurring memberships. See here for more details.

I’m interested in the Arc’teryx Access membership — how does that work?

The Arc’teryx Access membership is designed to help reduce financial barriers to Bouldering Project Memberships. This discount is available to qualifying people based on their individual financial needs and take 50% off a 3-month, prepaid membership.

What should I bring my first time climbing and what should I wear?

The only thing you need to boulder are climbing shoes. Most climbers also use chalk to give their hands more friction. If you don't have climbing shoes or chalk, we rent and sell both at our front desk. We recommend wearing comfortable, stretchy clothing that is easy to move in. Note that the walls and holds can be a little rough, especially on your pants. We have a shirts-on policy and require climbing shoes on the walls (no bare feet, no street shoes).

Other than that, we recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated and we have water fountains to re-fill your bottles.

How long can I climb for?

You can climb for as long as you want. Most new climbers can last anywhere between 1-2 hours, while advanced climbers train for much longer. Our hours are 6am-10pm M-F, 8am-10pm SS.

Can I drop my kid off to participate in events and climb?

For safety reasons, we do not allow children to be left unattended at our gym. However, we offer many opportunities for kids and their parents to climb. See here for more details.

* Rock climbing is inherently dangerous. Highly attentive adult supervision is crucial for the safety of youth and others. Any youth (younger than 14) must be actively supervised by the adult responsible for them during their visit to the gym. Any parent, guardian or chaperone responsible for a youth must maintain direct supervision over them during their entire visit. An adult cannot supervise more than 2 youth at a time.

**Bouldering is a physically demanding sport, but we’re here to help. Children don’t need to have previous experience to start, but we do recommend children are at least 4 years old before trying out bouldering.

Is climbing for me?

We believe climbing is for everyone. There's no one way up and problem solving your path is one of the greatest joys of climbing. Join our community and get ready to rise higher.
